Our Bike Tours and COVID-19: 11th Jan '22 Update.

Covid-19 and booking your bike tour with confidence..

France, as with many other countries, is experiencing a lot of Covid cases due to Omicron. There is, nonetheless though, a general "life back to normal" feeling in France, particularly if you are fully vaccinated.

This is helped by the fact that France has a high vaccination rate of 92%.

One rule that has remained in place is the mandatory wearing of masks in public indoor spaces (shops, museums, the entrance to restaurants etc) and happily it's well respected.

International borders were opened around the middle of Summer 2021, and as such we were able to run our tours, with American, Canadian & European guests, with positive experiences all round.

Also, as from the 15th Jan '22 the French Health Pass is being upgraded to a Vaccine Pass. Which will require the public to prove they have been vaccinated (your local non-French proof of vaccination will suffice) in order to enjoy access to many public indoor spaces: cafés, restaurants, museums etc. A negative test result alone will no longer be sufficient.

We understand though that even if you are fully vaccinated, you may still have some reluctance to organise overseas travel.

So, in order to give you peace of mind when booking your future tour with us, we have put in place our 3-point Covid Guarantee policy.

  1. Full Credits – If your local Gov’t will not let you travel to France, or the French Gov’t will not let you enter France (within 21 days of your tour start dates), then we will provide you with a Full Credit for any payments made.

  2. Full Flexibility – Any credits made by us, will be on an open-ended basis, allowing you to use them for any future tour date of your choosing and convenience. There is no short “use by date”.

You also have the flexibility of booking your tour today and not paying a deposit until February 2022.

  3. Full Transferability – If you want to pass your full credit onto a friend or family member, that’s absolutely fine… and there is no admin fee either…

We hope you find the above conditions reasonable; it must be said not many other tours are offering such good terms!

So, after a really enjoyable restart to our tours in the Summer of 2021 - we are now looking forward to our 2022 dates, and we hope to see you then…
Please note though that with the back log of people wanting to travel, availabilities are moving very fast…

Happy biking - Neil & Nat (Owners).

Covid situation in France and French Travel Requirements.

The Covid-19 situation in France.

So, we had some good news in September and October of 2021 in that we were able to restart our tours. And they all ran very smoothly.

Even though France is currently in the 5th Covid wave (as with most countries), here on the ground if you are fully vaccinated, life still feels pretty normal. And there are several reasons for this:

  1. France has one of the higher worldwide vaccination rates at 91% of those eligible. And the 3rd booster daily numbers are now massive, where France also has one of the highest worldwide delivered numbers.
  2. There is also the game changing aim of reducing the vector of primary school children, with the vaccination of 5 to 11 year olds. This looks set to get under way from the 20th Dec 21.
  3. Of course one of the restrictions that we have had continually in place is the mandatory wearing of masks in public indoor spaces (shops, museums, the entrance to restaurants etc) though of course this actually makes you feel safer. And the rules are being adhered to exceptionally well!
  4. France has had a "Pass Sanitaire" or "Health Pass" in place now since June '21, and it has worked very well. It’s had the effect of making deconfinement total for those vaccinated (or 24hr tested) opening up everything from restaurants, cafés to museums just as before.

Some of our foreign guests were able to get the official pass, and it worked perfectly well for them. And even those that weren't able to get it (due to the backlog) had no problems whatsoever - a quick flash of their local proof of vaccination worked every time!

On a micro level, and for your peace of mind, and ours, we’re happy to say that our family is fully vaccinated (and will continue to be so), so we’re covered, and looking forward to welcoming you in 2022…

And remember, you can make a new booking with confidence, with our 3-point Covid Guarantee policy: Full Credits, Full Flexibility & Full Transferability.

We look forward to seeing our bikers in 2022 - Vive les holidays! Please do contact us if you have any questions.

French Travel Requirements for Covid-19.

FRENCH COVID HEALTH PASS: In order for the non French to obtain the “Pass Sanitaire”, you simply need to go to a listed Pharmacy (there's one in our village), and show them your passport along with your local (non French) vaccination certificate. The pharmacy will then generate, on the spot, a QR code that will be emailed to you, and that you can then easily enter into the French Covid app - "TousAntiCovid". You will then flash them the QR code, via the app on your phone, to gain entrance to all public amenities.
https://www.sante.fr/how-to-obtain-a-french-health-pass

ENTRY TO FRANCE WITH PROOF OF VACCINATION: Currently, to gain initial entry to France, you just need to show proof of full vaccination, either a digital or paper based document from your own national Government. You may also need to show a negative Covid-19 test – please check prior to travel.

PROVIDE A “SWORN UNDERTAKING” TO ENTER FRANCE: You will also need to print off and sign a "Sworn Undertaking" statement (it's very simple) that states you have no symptoms of Covid-19 infection, and that to your knowledge you have not been in contact with a confirmed case of Covid-19 in the 14 days prior to your journey. Please see the link below for the official French Government form to print off prior to travel.

https://www.interieur.gouv.fr/Actualites/L-actu-du-Ministere/Certificate-of-international-travel

YOUR LOCAL GOV’T (NON FRENCH) REQUIREMENTS: So, we have detailed above the current local (French) conditions for entering France - it is essential, however, to check the conditions with your own local national bodies regarding travel to and from France. Below we have listed links to several official Foreign national bodies regarding their own travel requirements to France.

USA: https://fr.usembassy.gov/covid-19-information/
Canada: https://travel.gc.ca/travelling/health-safety/travel-health-notices/221
UK: https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/france/entry-requirements
EU + Schengen area: https://reopen.europa.eu/en/

END OF STAY COVID TESTING: Also, at the end of your stay, should you need a Covid-19 test to return home, we will be happy to book this is in for you.
It's all very easy, as we have 3 locations right in our village that we have been using without any problems.

The booking process is easy, everything is well organised, it's a quick test and the results are usually emailed to you within 30 minutes for natural flow/antigen tests and up to 12 hrs for PCR tests.
PCR tests are currently charged at a price of 49€ and natural flow/antigen at 29€.

If you have any questions, please contact us.

Our Covid-19 bike tour measures.

Vaccination requirements.

We are confortable receiving our biker guests, as any international traveller entering France has to show evidence of their double vaccination.

Furthermore, and for your peace of mind (and ours), we’re happy to say that our entire family has been vaccinated, so again we’re covered, and ready for more tours in 2022.

Covid measures and our tours.

We are of course implementing all necessary Covid-19 measures to keep everybody as safe as possible. Something that is relatively easy given that we have lots of space at our properties and that we run relatively small group numbers, with no more than 8 guests at any one time at the B&B - and no more than 6 guests at the villa. These are not mass tours.

Measures at the B&B -

  • Hydroalcoholic gels and tissues in each room and at strategic points around the property, along with enhanced end of stay cleaning.
  • Additional daily cleaning measures at the property.

Measures at the Villa -

  • Hydroalcoholic gels and tissues in each room and at strategic points around the properties, along with enhanced end of stay cleaning.
  • All bike equipment sanitised at the beginning and end of your tour.

Also something to remember is that our guests spend the majority of their time out biking in their own small groups, made up of family and friends. The biking is also in a low density, rural setting, with the majority of the time being spent in open countryside and the small villages that we visit along the way. Areas, that to date, have been less impacted by Covid-19 than urban areas.

Our B&B based tours are on the edge of the small village of Coustellet, whereas our Villa based tours are in the small village of Taillades.

Another advantage that we have is that you can minimise risks by using the quieter, smaller, yet convenient transport hubs to get to our locations. Marignane/Marseille airport is a medium sized, relatively quiet airport (yet it has good links) and we have the Avignon high speed train station (TGV) - which are both just a 50 min car journey away.

If you have any questions regarding an existing booking or a future booking, please contact us.

Hope to see you in 2022 for some great cycling in Provence – Neil & Nat Cowell - (Owners).

The best fun on two wheels.
"Following our fantastic experience at Neil and Nat's B&B, my wife and I were desperate to return to the Luberon, Provence for more cycling, and I can honestly say that the Villa exceeded our expectations."
Cycling Holidays in France - Provence - Sept 16 Villa based - 5* Tripadvisor review.
Absolutely perfect.
"We would without hesitation return as we feel there is still much to explore on our bikes and Neil and Nat are so welcoming. The Villa is fantastic for those wanting a little more independence and privacy in comparison to the B&B and perfect for a family or a group of friends. Really a first class service. Despite being away from the B&B we still felt we were just a well looked after as if we were staying there. The only thing we missed was Neil’s cooking. Hopefully when we return our daughter will be able to go in a bike trailer so she can join the fun too.
